Dispute Resolution in Special Administrative Regions (SARs)

Special administrative regions (SAR) were established in Russia in order to develop attractive investment environment:

  • on Russky Island (Vladivostok)
  • on Oktyabrsky Island (Kaliningrad)

Activities within SARs are regulated by the Federal Law “On Special Administrative Regions in the Territories of the Kaliningrad Region and Primorsky Krai”.

Disputes arising out of SAR-associated contracts can be referred to institutional arbitration (not to ad hoc arbitration).
