The Judgement of Cambyses, 1498

The 6th International moot court on international commercial arbitration «VAVT – International Sale of Goods» named after M.G. Rozenberg was held on 20-22 March 2019. The moot court was organised by the Russian Foreign Trade Academy (VAVT-University) together with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.

For the first time the moot court had two sections: held in Russian and English. Overall 42 teams participated in the competition.

Executive Administrator of the Russian Arbitration Center Andrey Gorlenko served as an arbitrator in the English section of the moot court.

The Russian Arbitration Center supported for the second time the team from Far Eastern Branch of VAVT-University from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy. The team included the following participants: Ali Akhmedov, Darina Volkova, Vladlena Zadorojnaya, Denis Kanachin and Olga Nasonova (coach).

Winners of the 6th M.G. Rozenberg International Commercial Arbitration Moot:

  • in the Russian section – team from the Kutafin Moscow State Law University (MSAL);
  • in the English section – team from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University).

The team MSU-2 was coached by Yulia Mullina, Ph.D candidate of the Department of Civil Law, Faculty of Law, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Legal Counsel of  the Russian Arbitration Center.

Best Respondent Memorandum Award in the Russian section was won by the team VAVT-1 that also advanced to the quarter-finals of the competition. The team was coached by Sabina Ganieva, Junior Case Manager of the Russian Arbitration Center.

Moreover, the Russian Arbitration Center together with the International and Comparative Law Research Center founded Award for the Best Development of Legal Sources in the English section. Winners received 500 Euro certificate that gives opportunity to choose any books and journals in the international academic publishing house «Brill». This Award was won by the MGIMO team.
