2018 Saint Petersburg FDI Pre-Moot

Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot (FDI) is a student moot court competition in investment arbitration, comprising more than 100 teams from the universities all around the world.

The teams argue the case based on the mock dispute between a foreign investor and a host state that addresses most topical issues of jurisdiction and merits (standards of protection of foreign investors in investment treaties). The 2018 case includes following topics: nationallity of foreing investor, place of dispute settlenebt, counterclaim, expropriation and enactment of the law for protection of environment and public healthy. The FDI Moot Court involves 2 stages:

1st stage – submission of written memoranda (arguments both for claimant and respondent).

2nd stage – oral rounds (presentation of arguments before the arbitral tribunal).

In 2018, Saint Petersburg State UniversityInternational and Comparative Law Research Center, Russian arbitration Center at Russian Institute of Modern Arbitration with support of Moot Court Society, hold FDI pre-moot.
