Fifth international M.G. Rozenberg moot court

The Fifth international moot court on international commercial arbitration “VAVT – International Sale of Goods” named after M.G. Rozenberg was held on March 22-23, 2018. The moot court was organized by Russian Foreign Trade Academy (VAVT-University) and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.

The Arbitration Center at the Institute of Modern Arbitration has supported the team from Far Eastern Branch of VAVT-University from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, which participated in the moot court for the first time.

Andrey Gorlenko, Executive Administrator of the Arbitration Center, served as an arbitrator in the oral rounds involving the teams from Moscow State University, VAVT-University, Higher School of Economics (Moscow) and Bashkirskiy University.

The team from VAVT-University coached by Anna Grischenkova, Member of the Board of the Arbitration Center, won the competition.

The Arbitration Center regularly hosts the events aimed at promoting arbitration among students.

In December 2017 the Arbitration Center held the first moot court on arbitration of corporate disputes named after professor V.P. Mozolin. The registration for the 2018 edition of the moot court will open this summer.

Moreover, the Arbitration Center together with the Moscow office of Debevoise&Plimpton hosted the pre-moots of Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court (FIAMC) in 2017 and 2018.

In November 2017 the first Foreign Direct Investment Moot Court (FDI Moot Court) took place in Saint-Petersburg. The Arbitration Center will host the 2018 FDI pre-moot on November 3-4 together with Saint-Petersburg State University and International and Comparative Law Research Center.

Also, the Arbitration Center supports the activities of Young Institute of Modern Arbitration (Young IMA), which has its Committee on Moot Courts. The Committee supports students who participate in international and domestic moot competitions. It is also in charge of organising various educational events aimed at developing practical skills among students.
